Customer Letters:

Rob,

As you know, I purchased one of Richard Teeter's 7.5' cane rods from you about 18 months ago.  I own a number of graphite rods that fit the bill for this size but I constantly reach for that cane, and for two distinct reasons.

First (and this is an ego thing) when you take it out, the heads of every person fishing with you and around you turn to admire it.  While not a beginner, I'm far from an expert fisherman and it's really fun to have your guide stop and take notice.  I've come to learn that a beautiful cane rod is enough in itself to draw the eye of any fly fisherman, but couple this with Richard's rare blonde cane, and you'll spend the first few minutes on any river explaining where you came across this rod.

Second, and most importantly, is the action.  I enjoy my 7.5' Orvis Superfine graphite rod quite a bit, but the response and action of a finely crafted piece of cane is something that must be experienced.  Instead of just knowing you have a fish on, you feel every twitch and movement right in your hand.  You told me this and I didn't believe it, but even a small fish becomes exciting.

What you don't know is that before I purchased Richard's rod from you, I went to the fly fishing show at the Charlotte Convention Center.  I tried out every cane rod I could and none seemed to quite match up.  Sure, there were cane rods that had wonderful markings and some that even came with a story, but even the rods in the $2500.00 price range, though pretty, didn't quite have that special feel that I felt with Richard's.  I'm sure it is a subjective thing but quality still shines through.

Personally, I hope he ends up selling thousands of them so that when I'm in my 80's, I'll be able to say I bought one of his first.

Rob, if you have an undecided customer considering one of Richard's rods, please have them give me a call.

Sincerely,

Mark
